The 5th Meeting of the ECOWAS Sub-Committee of Chiefs of Naval Staff is being held in Accra, Ghana from 18–20 February 2026, bringing together regional naval leadership and maritime security stakeholders.
Deliberations covered the effective transfer of YARIS to the Gulf of Guinea region, coordination among ECOWAS Maritime Centres, rotation of staff within the centres, and measures to strengthen regional maritime security cooperation. The discussions are expected to enhance operational coordination, improve information sharing, and reinforce collective efforts in addressing maritime security threats within the ECOWAS maritime domain
