On February 19, 2026, an ECOWAS delegation led by Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah (Ph.D.), ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, with Ecowas CNS’S visited the Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre (MMCC) Zone F in Accra. The main objective was to take stock of the situation and share recent news in the West African maritime field.
The Commissioner stressed the continued support of ECOWAS and the progress made to strengthen achievements in order to maintain an optimal working environment and conditions for local and international staff deployed in maritime centres. He also stressed the importance of securing the ECOWAS maritime zone and continuing collaboration between Member States to address security challenges in the region. During the engagement, the deputy director of MMCC Zone F provided a comprehensive briefing on the Centre’s operational activities, achievements, and ongoing collaborative initiatives with national maritime agencies. The Chiefs of Naval Staff commended the Centre’s commitment to information sharing, joint operations, and capacity building across the sub-region.
The visit reaffirmed ECOWAS’ collective resolve to ensure a safe, secure, and prosperous maritime domain in the Gulf of Guinea through sustained collaboration, intelligence exchange, and strategic coordination.
